Ride 9/13

Billy and I rode last night. We got to the garage around 4, made coffee, loaded up, and went to People's Park for a few hours. Food Not Bombs seemed happy to see us since Sunday has not been a consistent ride day the last month or so. Billy, Kristen, and I are planning to ride on this day ongoing. We had lots of requests for blankets. That section of the garage always seems overflowing, so I was surprised when looking through it that we have very little blankets left. I put a post on Facebook asking for more blanket donations. All the socks we took with us were taken as well. Everyone keep in mind the change of weather when loading up for a ride so we include jackets, sweaters, long pants, socks, etc.

Billy spoke at length about the trailer he got and has been working on for us to use. I wasn't able to go and see it like I had planned, but hopefully we can find a place to store it (since it's very large). It seems like it will be very helpful in the Winter months for carrying lots of blankets and coats.

Friday 4-6 Ride -Sam & Aly

Aly and I rode today to Seminary. Gave out a ton of stuff. Snacks went a long way - thanks to Joe for dumpstering them. All the clothes and hygiene were taken also. The first aid kit accidentally got taken and most the things were gone when we got it back. I am going to order another one and label it really well. Basically, I want to separate first aid supplies we give away and supplies we can use in an emergency (hence - triage).

2.)    Old Business

-Last meeting, July 14th.

-Discussed having ISTOP meetings meeting the second Saturday of each month and will review in 3 months to see if this day works for everyone.

-Subcommittee to discuss the qualities and skills of an ISTOP member.

- To be considered at member, must attend 2 meetings in a row.  

3.) Discussed fundraising event at the Back Door, looking at the date October 17th, so save the date, will hear about concrete date next meeting.

Next meeting, Saturday, September 12th at 4 pm.

Kristen and I rode yesterday to People's Park. We got to test out the new bike. It's awesome, so Thanks Billy!  The left hand break did not work, but Billy has been informed and is going to get that fixed. Nothing much to report from the ride.

I scheduled Garage Door Plus to come out and install our new door on Thursday at 9am. I will be there to meet them. If anyone who has tools and is willing to put the latch/lock thingy on the new door sometime that evening that would be great!

Garage Cleaning & New Bike

Today, my friend Billy donated a brand new bike to us. It rides very smooth, has good tread, and will be a big improvement from the small red bike. He hung the red bike up against the wall. Does anyone know where it came from?

Billy and I also cleaned up some poop in the corner (looks like some critter got in) and swept. We dumped out all the clothes, labeled all the bins, and sorted them accordingly. It's not the best system, but I think it should work alright for sorting a rotating supply of donations. It also shows us what we need! Undergarments and socks are the lowest bins at the moment.

There are also two bags of special socks still in the garage. Does anyone know who they belong to? We need to get them out.

Aly spoke with Nancy about getting a new garage door and it's in the works!

Billy would like to start riding and is coming to the next meeting. He's excited about helping work on storage in the garage and on fixing bikes.

Thur 7/23 Steph & Sam

Steph and I rode to People's Park & Seminary Park. People requested women's underwear, toilet paper, and lots of hygiene products. Special Socks continue to be in demand. Good ride! Gonna miss riding with Steph!
